Terms of use
Shinun / שינון · com.benbasha.shinun · last updated 20 September 2026
Shinun is a flashcard app. You install it, you make cards, they stay on your phone. There is no account to open and nothing to cancel. These terms are the agreement between you and Ben Basha (“we”) for using the app; if you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Using the app
You may use Shinun for your own study, personal or professional, on the devices your Apple or Google account allows. You may not resell the app, reverse-engineer it beyond what the law permits, or use it to distribute unlawful material.
There is no account, no login and no password. Whoever holds the device holds the decks.
Your content
The decks and cards you create or import are yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to them. They live in a database on your device; we have no copy, no backup and no way to read them.
You are responsible for what you put in them: do not import material you have no right to use, and do not use the app to store content that is unlawful where you live.
Because your decks exist only on your device, you are responsible for your own backups. Shinun exports everything to a file in one tap; use it. If your phone is lost, reset, or the app is uninstalled, the data is gone and we cannot restore it.
Sharing a deck by link
If you tap Share on a deck, a read-only copy of that deck is uploaded and you get a link. By doing that you confirm you have the right to share that content, and you accept that:
- anyone who has the link can read it: a link is the only protection, and links get forwarded;
- the snapshot is immutable. It cannot be edited or deleted from inside the app, by anyone, including you. To have one removed, email us the link;
- we may remove a shared snapshot without notice if it is unlawful, infringing, or abusive;
- a deck you receive from someone else is their content, not ours. We do not review, endorse or verify it. Import it at your own judgement.
Do not put anything in a shared deck that you would not put on a public web page.
It is a study tool, not a teacher or an examiner
Shinun schedules reviews and grades typed answers mechanically, with tolerant matching and an edit-distance allowance. It can mark a right answer wrong and a wrong answer right. It is not a source of truth about a language, a subject, an exam or anything else, and it does not guarantee any learning outcome or exam result. Starter decks are provided as a convenience and may contain errors.
Purchases
The app is free to install and includes a free tier that works without paying: one deck, five cards in it, two study sessions per local day, with every study mode available inside those limits.
Shinun Pro (shinun_premium) is a single, non-consumable in-app purchase that removes those limits and unlocks the extra features described on the paywall screen and on this site. It is a one-time purchase, per platform, not a subscription. It does not renew, there is nothing to cancel, and the price in your country is set by the store’s pricing tier.
- The purchase is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- Refunds are theirs, not ours. Ask Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play support, under their refund policies and any mandatory consumer rights you have.
- A purchase is tied to the store account that made it and can be restored on that account with “Restore purchases”. A purchase on one platform does not carry to the other.
- If the store revokes the purchase (for example after a refund), the free-tier limits apply again. Content you already have is never deleted: it stays readable, studyable and exportable, but no new decks or cards can be added beyond the limits.
Availability and changes to the app
We may add, change or remove features, and may stop publishing the app. Because the app works offline and your data is local, a change on our side cannot take your decks away from you; export them if you want a copy that outlives the app.
Warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its scheduling, grading or imports will be correct for your material.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, for lost study data, or for exam or academic outcomes. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your mandatory consumer rights.
Children
Shinun is a general-audience study app and is not directed at children. On Google Play its target age group is 13 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the app only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent, and let them make any purchase.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, this page is updated and the date at the top changes. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
